The Ana Sofia Real Estate & Property Management Services Dream Team

Ana Sofia Apolonia

I was born in Coimbra and lived here until I entered the University of Aveiro. Later, I worked in Braga before joining Princess Cruises in 2007, where I had the chance to work with colleagues from more than 15 nationalities and travel extensively through Australia, New Zealand, North America (including Alaska and Canada), the Pacific Islands, and part of the Caribbean. It was a truly enriching life experience. After that, I worked in Argentina as a university teacher and was responsible for the Statistics Department of the Tourism Ministry. In 2019, when my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I returned to Portugal to care for her, and since then I’ve been living in Coimbra, working both as a real estate agent and a language teacher.

I rarely have much free time, but when I do, what I enjoy the most is going out with family and friends, especially for outdoor activities. In the winter, I love staying in, relaxing on the sofa, and watching movies. I also really enjoy doing puzzles and playing board games whenever I have the chance.

I really enjoy helping people find the right home for their needs and lifestyle. For me, it’s very rewarding to be part of such an important decision in someone’s life. I actually started working in real estate because I was already helping people by translating and interpreting, and at first it was simply a good way to earn some extra income for my family. But now it has become so much more than that. My clients often become my friends, and my children get the chance to grow up in this wonderful multicultural environment. It feels amazing when, without me asking, people start recommending me and saying kind things — it’s truly heartfelt. I love being part of their lives and knowing I’ve contributed to their happiness.

Paula Chanda- Olá Coimbra!

I am a retired Theatre Teacher, Director, and had my own Performing Arts School in Texas for 15 years before moving to Charlottesville VA and starting a theatre program at a diverse middle school. My amazing husband Bob had been living in Coimbra for 2 years and I just visited in the summers. When I was here, I knew it would be home! In March of 2025, my husband had to have open heart surgery so I packed everything up and moved to Coimbra. We have a daughter and son in law that live in Chicago and my moms live in Dallas, TX.

I love theatre, Fado (wonderful Portuguese music!), movies and traveling. AND having projects! After my husband was recovered, I started looking at houses here in Coimbra and I was told by so many people, “You have to work with Sofia!” They were absolutely right! I was blown away by how she wanted to HELP me way more than she wanted to make any money.

My husband and I have a Podcast- Bob & Paula’s Portugal Adventure and one of the big things we have seen from people who have made this big move like us (did I say we did it without ever even visiting Portugal?!) is the challenge that is finding housing. I have to admit, I’m a bit addicted to looking at houses and apartments and I ADORE showing people around and answering their questions!

Why Two Companies Working Together?

Ana Sofia Apolonia Real Estate & Property Management Services and Olá Coimbra! are two parts of the same pie — each bringing something special to your Portugal journey.

Ana Sofia has spent over six years helping clients buy, sell, and manage property in Portugal. Along the way, she found herself naturally offering so much more — from helping newcomers navigate paperwork to making sure their new homes were ready for move-in day.

Olá Coimbra! grew from that same spirit of support. It’s all about helping you discover Portugal — guiding your scouting trip, connecting you with trusted professionals, and making your transition smooth and welcoming once you arrive.

Together, it’s the perfect combination:

  • Ana Sofia, a Coimbra native with deep local knowledge and expertise in Portuguese real estate law and property management.

  • Paula, founder of Olá Coimbra!, an expat who’s successfully navigated the immigration process herself and understands every step of building a new life here.

Side by side, we bring both local know-how and real-life expat experience — helping you find not just a property, but a home and a fresh start in Portugal.
